Dodgeball

This film is base on an entirely different premise to what I expected, weirldy and actually turned out to be pretty good. My favourite character was Stephen Root's character Gordon. Quite similar to his character in Office Space, but amusing nevertheless.

Next film to watch is: Bubba Ho-Tep

Saturday Went to craft show at Felbrigg Hall, where Becca bought some expensive hand-made paper and drooled over some pretty jewellery made from knitted copper wire. Bought some asparagus and fudge before setting off to Sherringham. In Sherringham, we wondered along the front, around the town a bit and then ate some Ronaldo’s ice cream. Amusing anecdote from the Ice cream shop: Woman walks in, asks if they have blueberry flavour, they say they have run out, so she walks out again. This is only amusing given the number of other flavours they do actually have…maybe you had to be there. We scoffed our ice cream, wondered back to the car and made our way back to Norwich.

Sunday Lazy morning followed by a fun couple of hours in Lloyds whether some of Becca’s colleagues from work. Lloyds was packed and about 5 deep at the bar, so we decided to make our way home, UP (yes, UP) the hideous hill from Kings St to Queens Road, calling in at Choices to pick up a couple of films.

Film Reviews

Team America: World Police One of those films I’ve been wanting to see for quite some time that then turns out to be quite poo. I was expecting the film to be funny, which it was in places, but not roll on the floor funny. From watching the extras on the DVDs, I think they were trying to make a serious Bruckheimer style movie, but only with puppets. The comedy is supposed to come from the puppets, which it does, just not enough to make me want to watch it

Napoleon Dynamite Another film I’ve been wanting to see for a while. It's quite an amusing little tail of: 'A listless and alienated teenager decides to help his new friend win the class presidency in their small Midwestern town high school, while he must deal with his bizarre family life back home.' Very amusing. I am even more impressed having read the film was shot in 22 days and then edited using a Macintosh with Final Cut Pro. Crazy.

…Back to journal

Monday Got up to find a SMS from Phones4u offering me a free phone upgrade and £10 cashback. Needless to say, I was intruiged and we wondered into town through the pouring rain to find out what they had to offer. 9 signatures, 1 credit check and 30 minutes or so later, I walked out of Phones4u with a new phone, phone number and bluetooth headset. I am now the proud owner of a Sony Ericsson K750i mobile phone - Yay! However, it doesn't bloody work with iSync, which was one of the reasons I wanted a new phone, there's fixes to make it work with the version of iSync in Tiger, but not Panther :( so I may have to upgrade to Tiger sometime in the future. Went to visit parents and then sister in the afternoon (to drop off Avon stuff) and then <lj user="beccus"> made a fantastic dinner of Teryaki Pork with Sweet Potato chips and asparagus.

Tuesday Back to work…the morning seems to have gone stupidly quickly and the afternoon is hopefully heading the same way

General Goings On

I’ve got into this terrible bad sleeping pattern and I’m not quite sure how to shift it. I felt a bit like Edward Norton in Fight Club this morning….When you can’t sleep you’re never quite awake or asleep. Very strange. The morning was quite stressful what with demanding sales person and lots of broken ADSL* customers. Although the stress probably came mainly from me being half asleep. My weird sleep pattern seems to be killing my attention span too. I can’t concentrate on anything. Ooh, look, poker.

Anyway… best attempt to get some shut eye, since I have to goto the opticians in the morning. Next time you see me (for those that ever do) I may well be wearing glasses, scarily enough.

Bleh, enough of this falling-out-of-my-brain bunch of crap. (I just re-punctuated that sentence twice. Am I becoming more picky with my punctuation, or more often wrong….?)

Right. Poker. Bed.

New Toy...

Yay :) Second new toy of the pay rise is a Nintendo DS which arrived this morning. I take back everything I’ve said about Amazon and their shite delivery times, I only ordered this on Thursday afternoon. I did pay for postage though, but it was only a couple of quid.

I’ve only had a chance to play with the games for about an hour this morning, but controlling them with the touchscreen seems rather cool, especially the Mario Game.

More exciting news when I play on it some more ;)

Weekend...

Had a lovely weekend with Becca didn’t really do much: went shopping, watched lots of dvds and had a really tasty roast pork dinner.

Over the last few days, I've had a weird sprained ankle type thing. I have no idea how I did it, but it seemed to appear overnight. It appeared Thursday and I've been hobbling about on it until it finally disappeared today. Very strange.

DVDs The Buddy Holly Story Quite a good little film, didn't like the guy who played Buddy Holly, he seemed rather sinister and not at all how I would imagine Buddy Holly to be. Good music though.

Kurt and Courtney I first saw this years ago, when it was shown on TV. Very interesting film, investigating why Kurt committed suicide and whether or not he was murdered. Quite thought-provoking, but no conclusion is ever reached and the film ends quite oddly.

So I married and Axe Murderer Saw a scene from this when playing Scene It a few weeks ago and it made me giggle. A fairly old Mike Myers film, has some very amusing beat poetry in it.

Adam and Joe Show What can I say? Fantastic.

Oceans Eleven (Rat pack version) Only partly watched this as it is quite long (getting on for 2 hours). Seems completely different to the recent version, but quite good nevertheless.

…Still left to watch…

Fletch Classic 80s Chevy Chase film and apparently Kevin Smiths next film after Clerks 2

I didn’t mention, but we lost another fish the other day. Nadia, our male swordtail fishy died, from possibly the same thing as Emaline. Not sure quite what happened to them, the water levels are fine, and all the other fish seem ok, fingers crossed!

Sad Day in Fishy World

Our eldest fish, Emaline, who was over a year old, sadly died yesterday. She had a long and fruitful life giving birth to countless generations of fishies who will continue to thrive in the tank in her honour.

Rest In Peace Emaline.

Powerbook....

Yay, my laptop finally arrived (sans case, but that should be here tomoorw, fingers crossed) and it’s fantastic :)

And So...

Well, I got a payrise last week and decided to buy myself a spanky new laptop. After some deliberation (ok none), I decided to go for one of these. It’s 17", 1.67GHz G4 processor, 1GB Ram, 80GB Hard disk and it's all mine! (Or rather it will be soon). It was dispatched the other day and my tracking numbers didn't seem to make sense and kept telling me it had been delivered to Reading in September 2004, which confused me somewhat. I gave Apple a call and they told me the powerbook is in Shanghai where it will be flown to Amsterdam today, to be picked up by TNT and I should be able to track it via TNT by Monday. HURRAH!

(It’s all gymli’s fault. Pointing out OSX’s superiority over Windows and even Linux ;)
